Season Information

The Louisiana waterfowl season runs from November to February. We are currently enjoying a liberal sixty-day season with a liberal bag limit on both ducks and geese. There is an early Teal season in September each year, typically nine to sixteen days. The standard waterfowl season begins in early November. Our duck season is divided into three splits. The first takes place in November and the second usually opens in mid-December and closes in early January, with the third beginning mid January and running till late January. The goose season runs from early November through early February.

We can comfortably accommodate up to 12 hunters and often have a full house. There is a two hunter minimum and we do not mix hunting groups at the lodge or in the blinds. There is a maximum of four hunters per twelve-foot pit blind.  Reservations should be made early to ensure your preferred time slot.

Mixed bag hunting ensures hunting success throughout the season. It is not unusual to have six to eight different species of ducks and geese in your group’s bag limit. The hunting season before the New Year is usually more productive for geese, although hunting is good throughout the season.  Late season brings wiser geese, as they become harder to call and attract but there are still plenty of opportunities.

Alternatively, duck hunting usually gets better as the season progresses. Early season bags are filled with teal, pintails, gadwalls, and shovelers. Usually, after Thanksgiving and the seasonal rain, mallards are the number one bird on hunters’ straps, along with the specklebelly geese.
